>PRESIDENT Iajuddin Ahmed has formally invited Sheikh Hasina to head the new government as majority leader, newa agency bdnews24.com reports quoting Abdus Sobhan, assistant information secretary to the Awami League president.
“The president called Sheikh Hasina today at 12 noon, congratulated her and invited her to form government,” the news agency quotes Abdus Sobhan to be saying.
Led by the Awami League chief, the new cabinet will be sworn in at Bangabhaban Tuesday evening under president Iajuddin Ahmed.
The cabinet division has finalised all preparations for the oath-taking programme.
The AL-led grand alliance won an absolute majority in the Dec 29 election, with AL getting 230 seats, and major allies Jatiya Party, JSD and Worker’s Party winning 27, 3 and 2 seats respectively.
