THOUGH Bangladesh’s central bank and other researchers eyed a 6 percent GDP growth for this year, the World Bank has projected the country’s economic growth to be 5.5 percent due to political tensions, back-to-back flooding and Cyclone Sidr.
A stepping up of inflation, potential threat to exports, increase in the food and energy prices, and pressure on external balance would have an adverse impact on the economy, news agency UNB reports quoting the World Bank’s Global Economic Prospects 2008 which was released yesterday.
